It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for
himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others; or
their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own.
- Thomas Jefferson April 21, 1803
When we give government the power to make medical decisions for
us, we, in essence, accept that the state owns our bodies.

I urge all DCs, CAs, spouses and patients interested in
healthcare freedom and limited, Constitutional government to
vote for Ron Paul in the primaries and for President. More
Republicans and Democrats are tired of the
tax-borrow-spend-regulation mentality of Washington and realize
that a vote for Ron Paul is a vote against Big Brother in
healthcare, economy, privacy and so many other areas of our
lives. Please go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=003p4gpZ8ms

Welcome to the end of 2007
Stress, fighting, yelling…and that was just this morning. I love
teenagers.
When my kids become wild and unruly, I use a nice, safe playpen.
When they’re finished, I climb out. – Erma Bombeck
Looking back, it has been a very good year. I learned a lot,
whether I wanted to or not. What do I want for next year? To
spend a little more time relaxing, get some more massages, some
reflexology would be good, spend some time lying on a nice beach
without a child calling me every two minutes.
We had a quicksand box in our back yard. I was an only child,
eventually.
– Steven Wright
Years ago a very wise friend introduced me to an exercise he and
his wife did at the end of every year. They would go to a nice
restaurant and individually write down how the year went:
financially, their relationship, their sex life, the kids, their
issues, their successes, their failures, their hopes. They’d
discuss them.
Not long ago I told another friend whose wisdom I hold in high
regard about this yearly exercise. He said, “That sounds like a
terrible thing to do.” Go figure.
2007 was a great year. KST has exploded. DCs get one KST
adjustment and realize how powerful it is. By the way, my being
attacked for teaching KST in Berlin was a “tempest in a teacup”
but the publicity was great for business.
I enjoyed speaking for The Masters Circle in 2007 and will be
presenting at their January seminar in Dallas. I spoke for them
in Dallas this past year. During a break I walked to Dealey
Plaza, site of the Kennedy assassination. I stood where Zapruder
took his video, on the grassy knoll, behind the fence where the
“other shooter” supposedly stood, got a 20 minute lecture on
what “really” happened by one of the guys hanging around there
who makes a living giving impromptu discussions. It was lots of
fun only I’m a bit paranoid now.
Speaking of Berlin, it was a blast. Did you know marijuana and
prostitution are legal there? Hey, don’t look at me, I’m
married. The London KST seminar too was great – we’re returning
to both cities in October and May 2008 respectively.
While in England, Beth, Shayna and I drove to
Stratford-upon-Avon and saw Twelfth Night performed by the Royal
Shakespeare Company. John Lithgow was in it. After the show we
asked Shayna if she liked it. She said, “It was good but I liked
the way my 6th grade class did it better.”
2008 will again be an international year: Tuscany in May, London
in May, Berlin in October and then (here it comes) Israel in
December! We’ll celebrate Shayna’s bat mitzvah there. We may
have a KST and philosophy seminar in Tel Aviv too. What an
adventurous year. I hope you’ll join us.
We are in the process of organizing a board of advisors for a
new chiropractic college. If you are interested in being
involved please write me. We envision a healthcare institution
based on the vitalism of DD Palmer where students will be
healthy so their patients can be healthy. Too many people
graduate who are ill – and then proceed to tell others how to be
healthy.
Oh, and the best news – the end of 2007 is just the beginning of
2008!
The Foundation for Health Choice

We’re growing. Thanks for all your support for the year. I
predict that 2008 will be the end of Barrett and the
Quackbusters. Who knows what we’ll find when the chips fly. We
are fighting for a new era in heathcare freedom. Speaking of
Barrett…
Barrett needs help against the “well financed quacks”
“The nervous system does not control all the organs and tissues
of the body. Nor has chiropractic care been shown to maintain
optimal health or enable the body to resist disease.”
– Stephen Barrett, Improper Claims on Chiropractic College
Websites, 5/21/04
The paragraph below appeared on the health fraud list. For the
record I am NOT recommending you donate. Read about the
influence this guy has.

“Help Quackwatch and Dr. Barrett: Dr. Stephen Barrett, has been
a leader the worldwide struggle against health fraud for
more
than 35 years…Dr. Barrett also serves as a trusted resource for
the media, law-enforcement agencies, educators, and thousands of
individual consumers.
Quackery promoters have tried to counter his influence by
libeling him and filing groundless lawsuits. He has filed
several libel suits that have been costly. This week, after a
6-year legal battle, a California judge ordered him to pay the
legal fees of one defendant….Dr. Barrett intends to continue,
but can use help in defraying legal expenses. Quackwatch and its
companion Web sites…are free to the public, but maintaining them
requires the ability to deal with frivolous assaults by
well-financed quacks and the special interests that profit from
quackery. If you can give $50 or more make a donation payable to
the Barrett Defense Fund Chapel Hill, NC. Robert S. Baratz, MD,
PhD, DDS National Council Against Health Fraud.”
Barrett and posse were ordered to pay legal fees in a decision
on 12/10/07 by the Superior Court of California. The full
decision is here:

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and KST
I am a chiropractor who went thru a pretty nasty divorce a few
years ago. Since then I’ve had a roller coaster ride with being
able to obtain/maintain an erection. I have tried many different
chiropractic techniques. acupuncture, meditation, EFT,
supplements, hypnosis, ED meds. All of these provided mixed,
inconsistent, temporary results. After one KST adjustment my
body released the emotional blockage that had lead to my
"issue." I feel like myself again! I highly recommend every
chiropractor find out more about KST. Name withheld by request

Doctors in denial
Survey Finds Physicians Often Dismiss Complaints About Drugs'
Side Effects
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/24/AR2007082401714.html?nav=rss_health
Washington Post Tuesday, August 28, 2007; HE04
According to a survey of 650 patients published in Drug Safety,
a peer-reviewed journal, doctors frequently ignored or dismissed
patients' concerns about statin side effects. Because the doctor
makes no "adverse event report" to the
Food and Drug
Administration, the FDA underestimates the problem, and other
doctors and patients may assume the drug is safer than it really
is.
Statins such as Lipitor and
Zocor side effects range from muscle
injury to liver and kidney dysfunction.
Harvard Medical School
professor Jerry Avorn, author of "Powerful Medicines: The
Benefits, Risks and Costs of Prescription Drugs commented: "We
already know that there is horrendous underreporting of side
effects. Ninety to 99% of serious side effects are not reported
by doctors," he said. Yet the FDA relies heavily on their
reports. "A fifth of all drugs that fully pass FDA approval will
ultimately have black box warnings or be withdrawn from market
because of adverse effects," Golomb said. |
Lawsuit against Splenda not dismissed
A federal judge in Los Angeles has refused to dismiss the Sugar
Association’s lawsuit against the makers of Splenda for false
and misleading advertising, Citizens for Health (CFH) is asking
all consumers to pay special attention to the possible dangers
involved in cooking and baking with artificial sweeteners. “Too
many commercial interests are working to frustrate
self-education about responsible health choices,” warns CFH
Board President and health lawyer, Michael McCormack. More about

Hysterectomy info
Hysterectomies (removal of the uterus) were popularized in the
United States over a century ago. The surgical removal of the
female reproductive sex organs is a primitive practice, yet an
average of 622,000 per year have taken place over the last
decade. In 2005, 76 percent of the women also had their ovaries
removed. Doctors tell women sex will be the same, or better than
ever. Women say their sex lives are over, they're "dead in bed"

The flu protects against cancer
In this study those with a history of colds and flu also had
less breast, colon, rectal, stomach and ovarian cancer.

In another study, a history of common colds or gastro-enteric
influenza was found to be associated with a decreased cancer
risk.

And in another study, subjects who reported a history of colds,
flu and other infectious diseases had a 30% reduction in risk of
brain tumor.

KST seminar dates
Receive (and learn to give) what many chiropractors call, “The
best adjustment of my life.”
I left the seminar more excited about chiropractic than I have
been in years. I'm a Sherman grad, philosophy based
chiropractor, so a lot of the "symptom treating" seminars I've
attended drove me crazy! Learning about the philosophy, science
and art of KST was very refreshing…I started with KST Monday
morning…Overall, the best seminar I've taken in years. – Mary
Jane Horton, DC

Humor
Condoms aren’t completely safe. A friend of mine was wearing one
and got hit by a bus.
– Bob Rubin
Actual comments made by his patients (predominately male) during
their colonoscopies:
1. "Take it easy, Doc. You're boldly going where no man has gone
before!”
2. "Find Amelia Earhart yet?"
3. "Can you hear me NOW?"
4. "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"
5. "You know, in Arkansas, we're now legally married."
6. "Any sign of the trapped miners, Chief?"
7. "You put your left hand in, you take your left hand out..."
8. "Hey! Now I know how a Muppet feels!"
9. "If your hand doesn't fit, you must quit!
10. "Hey Doc, let me know if you find my dignity."
11. "You used to be an executive at Enron, didn't you?"
12. "Could you write a note for my wife saying that my head is
not up here?"
A priest, a Pentecostal preacher and a Rabbi all served as
chaplains at the same university. They would get together two or
three times a week for coffee and to talk shop. One day, someone
made the comment that preaching to people isn't really all that
hard. A real challenge would be to preach to a bear. One thing
led to another and they decided to do an experiment. They would
all go out into the woods, find a bear, preach to it, and
attempt to convert it.
Seven days later, they were all together to discuss the
experience.
Father McNamara, who had his arm in a sling, was on crutches,
and had various bandages, went first. "Well," he said, "I went
into the woods to find me a bear. And when I found him I began
to read to him from Catechism.
Well, that bear wanted nothing to do with me and began to slap
me around. So I quickly grabbed my holy water, sprinkled him
and, Holy Mary Mother of God, he became as gentle as a lamb. The
bishop is coming out next week to give him first communion and
confirmation."
Reverend Billy Bob spoke next. He was in a wheelchair, with an
arm and both legs in casts, and an IV drip. In his best fire and
brimstone oratory he claimed, "WELL brothers, you KNOW we don't
sprinkle! I went out and, I FOUND me a bear. And then I began to
read to my bear from God's HOLY WORD! But that bear wanted
nothing to do with me. So I took HOLD of him and we began to
wrestle. We wrestled down one hill, UP another and DOWN another
until we came to a creek. So I quick DUNKED him and BAPTIZED his
hairy soul. And just like you said, he became as gentle as a
lamb. We spent the rest of the day praising Jesus."
They both looked down at the rabbi, who was lying in a hospital
bed.
He was in a body cast and traction with IVs and monitors running
in and out of him. He was in bad shape. The rabbi looked up and
said, "Looking back on it, circumcision may not have been the
best way to start!"
Happy New Year. May you enjoy wonderful times with your family
and friends. I hope to see you soon and in person in the near
future.
