Where was I?
 It’s been a few months since I wrote the last newsletter. What happened to me? Nothing. I just took some time off from it but I’ve been busy. The KST seminars and the Tedd Koren Patient Newsletters were on time (paid subscribers keep you to a deadline).
Even though we may have lots of irons in the fire, sometimes we just need to tend the fire. The irons will stay hot. My fantasy is to take a month or six weeks off and go to an island somewhere, anywhere, even Long Island or Coney Island (OK, not Coney Island) and lay on the beach.

From the “Damn students can’t even get sick properly” department
Researchers investigating a large outbreak of mumps in 2006,
when 6,584 cases were reported among college students, have
discovered that virtually every sufferer had been vaccinated
twice against the disease. CDC researchers speculate that the
outbreak – primarily among 18- to 24-year-olds – was the result
of the ‘wrong type of mumps’. New England Journal of Medicine.

What is healthier for us than sunlight, fresh water, natural
food, staying active and enjoying life’s pleasures? We were
meant to enjoy the sun, and most sunscreen is full of toxic
chemicals that absorb through the skin. While sales of

poses no threat to the other students because the number is so

Response from Tedd Koren: The above, written by a person not
brave enough to include his name, is, I am assured, not
representative of the Italian Chiropractic Association nor its
members. I know because I’ve communicated with many of them.
First of all, Koren Specific Technique (KST) is not a
chiropractic technique but a healing protocol that can be used
by any profession, just as AK is. For the record, all seminar
participants in both London and Berlin were healthcare
professionals.

Tuscany, Italy address this letter in powerful, commonsense
terms:

Where do these people come from?? What does ‘selling out‘ mean?
Is he saying a DC can’t teach anything they know to anyone but
DCs? What about Upledger and Robert Boyd teaching osteopathy to
DCs? Should they be censured because we’re not allowed to learn
anything from anyone except DCs? What about Darryl Currel and
his TMJ work? Is he a sellout because he’s a dentist? What about
John Thie inventing Touch for Health? Just because some DCs use
Touch for Health, does that now mean they own it and nobody else
can learn it? What about all the PTs and others who do versions
of AK? Is that a sellout too? Should lay people or MDs or anyone
else be proscripted from studying this work?
The real underlying dark implication of this type of
shortsightedness is the ownership of knowledge – the attempt to
control information. Have any of these people ever seen your
technique or been to your class? Do they have any notion what
they’re talking about? Anyone ever hear the phrase academic
freedom?
I can’t fathom how espousing a view like this could possibly
advance the strength of any professional association, no matter
what country.

Hi Tedd: Why am I not surprised by Sherman's (and other
colleges) response? Must be discouraging, though, because we
know there's a lot more to learn about healing…. The entire
attitude in society towards holistic healing has changed so much
since our days at Sherman, yet still those 'bastions of
conservatism' persist (or resist, I should say). Peter Jones, DC

unfortunate that the chiropractic profession has such a limited
view of itself and its place in the health world. WE should be

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD (true story)
George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi was going up to bed
when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden
shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw
that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned
the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said
"no". Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he
should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when
available. George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and
phoned the police again. "Hello, I just called you a few seconds
ago because there were people stealing things from my shed.
Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just
shot them." Then he hung up.
Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit,
and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught
the burglars red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George: "I
thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said,
"I thought
you said there was nobody available!"
